About Chandi Homam
The Chandi Homam is the avahanam of Goddess Chandi in Agni by chanting the Devi
Mahatmyam slogas, also referred as the Chandi Path, is divided into three major
episodes MahaKali, MahaLaksmi and MahaSaraswathi. It is referred as Devi
Mahatmya in South India, Chandi in West Bengal and as Durga Sapthasathi in the
northern parts of the country including Varanasi. It consists of chapters 74 to
86 (13 chapters) of the Markandeya Purana and has 700 stanzas. This Purana is
also authored by Veda Vyasa and is a medium sized purana. In the twelfth chapter
of this great book, the Goddess tells that for one who reads or hears these
three stories of her there is nothing impossible to obtain including salvation.
Goddess in the below sloga said; who ever chants or even hears the mahatmiya
sloga will get all mangalas. Ashta Dasa Buja Maha Durga
“Ribava : Sum shayam yanthi kalyanainj shoba pathyathey
Nandhathey sakulampumsaam mahathmayam mama chrunvathaam”

mangalas. At Sri Yogambigai Adhishtanam, Shri Sadha Chandi Maha homam is
performed every year at Vaikasi Visaka Pournami where in the devi mahatmia
slogam is chanted 100 times along with Shri Prathyangira moola manthiram
followed by Vasotharai and Abhishekam for Worlds Welfare. During the homam all
auspicious articles are offered to Goddess chandi in-between each slogas.
Whoever participates in this homam with bakthi is said to get the power to
balance the passion and dispassion, indulgence and denial. With the goddess
blessing, you will be able to manifest your true divine self that unites

Athivirushtayaam anaaivruishtov basakra bayaikshaya !
Sarvaknaa vinachyanthi sathachandi vithavukruthey !
Roganaam vairinaam naatho dhanaputhra samruthaya !
